1. Closed-Cell Structure for Superior Moisture Protection
100% Waterproof Barrier: Unlike open-cell foam, 1-3mm IXPE Underlayment uses a closed-cell structure. This means each air bubble is sealed, preventing water, water vapor, and liquids from penetrating the upper finished flooring or the lower subfloor.
Mold & Mildew Resistance: Because the material does not absorb moisture, it creates an environment where mold, mildew, and bacteria cannot thrive, ensuring a healthier indoor air quality.

Impact Noise Reduction: The dense yet flexible nature of IXPE foam absorbs the energy of foot traffic, dropped objects, and moving furniture, significantly reducing impact noise.
Airborne Sound Damping: It helps to deaden echoes and reverberation within a room, creating a quieter, more peaceful environment. High-density IXPE can achieve high IIC (Impact Insulation Class) and STC (Sound Transmission Class) ratings, making it ideal for multi-story buildings.

Protecting the Floor Locking Mechanism: By absorbing shock and vibration, the underlayment protects the delicate tongue-and-groove or click-lock systems of laminate and engineered wood floors from stress fractures.

4. Subfloor Leveling and Crack Isolation
Minor Imperfection Bridging: The foam's flexibility allows it to fill and bridge minor subfloor gaps, cracks, and unevenness (typically up to 2-3mm), ensuring the top flooring layer lies flat and does not creak or rock.
Static Dissipation: Some EVA underlayments are engineered to dissipate static electricity, protecting electronic flooring finishes.

5. Thermal Insulation
Energy Efficiency: EVA foam acts as a thermal break, preventing cold from transferring from the subfloor (especially concrete) up through the floor. This keeps rooms warmer in winter and can contribute to energy savings.

Why Choose 10-R EVA Over Other Underlayments?

While materials like polyethylene (PE) or cork are available, IXPE offers the best balance of properties:
vs. PE Foam: IXPE is denser, more durable, and provides significantly better soundproofing.
vs. Cork: IXPE is 100% waterproof (cork can absorb moisture and rot) and more uniform in thickness, preventing telegraphing of subfloor imperfections.
vs. Rubber: 1-3mm IXPE underlayment is lighter, easier to cut, and more economical, while providing similar shock absorption.
